Four Incredible Getaways Just a Drive Away from Palm Beach County

One of the things I love most about living in Palm Beach County is how many amazing destinations are just a short drive away. Whether you’re planning a family weekend, a staycation, or a quick couples getaway, you’re within reach of some truly fantastic resorts in every direction.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to visit these places with my family, and they’ve all been memorable for different reasons. If you’re looking for ideas for your next trip, here are four resorts I highly recommend.

North: Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center – Kissimmee

Located in Kissimmee near Walt Disney World Resort, the Gaylord Palms is one of the most family-friendly resorts in Florida.

The resort is famous for its massive glass atrium, which feels like stepping into a tropical indoor garden. Kids absolutely love exploring the different themed areas representing Florida’s ecosystems. The property also features an incredible water park area, complete with slides, pools, and plenty of space for families to relax.

During the holidays, the resort becomes even more special with seasonal attractions and themed experiences that make it feel like a destination on its own.

Why it’s great:

  • Perfect for families with kids

  • Close to Disney and Orlando attractions

  • Huge pools and water park

  • Lots of activities for all ages

East: Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa – Singer Island

Just a short drive east to Singer Island, this oceanfront resort is one of my favorite quick beach escapes.

The Marriott offers condo-style suites, which makes it ideal for families because you get more space than a traditional hotel room. The resort sits directly on the beach and has a beautiful lagoon-style pool, plus easy access to water sports and snorkeling in the clear Atlantic waters.

For couples, the spa and oceanfront sunsets make it a relaxing weekend retreat as well.

Why it’s great:

  • Stunning beachfront location

  • Large suites perfect for families

  • Great pools and beach access

  • Close enough for a one-night or weekend getaway

South: Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo – Florida Keys

Heading south to Key Largo brings you to Baker’s Cay, a beautiful resort tucked along the water in the Florida Keys.

This resort has a more laid-back island vibe, with private beaches, hammocks under palm trees, and incredible sunset views. Kids love the water activities, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and exploring the shoreline.

For couples, this is also an incredibly romantic getaway. Watching the sunset over the Gulf while enjoying dinner by the water is hard to beat.

Why it’s great:

  • True island atmosphere

  • Perfect sunsets and waterfront views

  • Family-friendly water activities

  • Relaxing and romantic setting

West: JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort – Marco Island

Driving west across the state brings you to Marco Island and one of the most impressive beach resorts in Florida.

The JW Marriott has beautiful white-sand beaches, multiple pools, and a long list of activities for families. Kids enjoy everything from beach games to poolside fun, while adults can relax at the spa or enjoy waterfront dining.

The resort also offers quieter adults-focused areas, making it great for couples who want a romantic escape while still enjoying a full resort experience.

Why it’s great:

  • Gorgeous Gulf Coast beaches

  • Great pools and family activities

  • Excellent restaurants

  • Both family-friendly and romantic spaces

Living in Palm Beach County Means Endless Weekend Adventures

One of the underrated perks of living in Palm Beach County is how easy it is to reach amazing destinations without getting on a plane. Within just a few hours, you can be at a theme-park resort, a luxury beachfront hotel, an island getaway in the Keys, or a Gulf Coast retreat.

For my family, these quick trips have created some of our favorite memories—and they’re all close enough to enjoy whenever the urge for a getaway strikes.

And honestly, that’s just one more reason why South Florida is such an incredible place to live. 🌴
